Job/Position DescriptionCPS CVS Supervisor I / II The position supervises a unit of caseworkers and clerical staff responsible for providing child protective services within the Substituted Care unit. The position interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services staff, clients, contract providers, civil and criminal court personnel along with community representatives, the Childrenand#146;s Assessment Center staff and other partner agencies within the center. Essential Job FunctionsPlans and manages unit operations to achieve program and regional objectives for service delivery by monitoring caseloads and budgets, consulting with staff on case related issues, approving leave, and holding individual conferences and unit meetings. and#149; Manages and develops staff through unit in-service training, field visits with staff, review of performance data, individual conferences, agency sponsored training, and performance appraisal. and#149; Interprets program policy and procedures to unit staff, other Department of Family and Protective Services staff, and the public. and#149; Evaluates unit performance through case readings, computer reports, and observation of unit operations to ensure compliance with policy, procedures, and service control requirements. and#149; Develops and maintains effective working relationships between Child Protective Services staff, Child Welfare boards, the general public, legal, medical, educational, and other community resources. and#149; Makes casework decisions regarding the removal and placement of children, and works with county and district attorneys on legal measures to initiate on child protective services cases. and#149; Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations. and#149; Promotes, monitors, and ensures that respect is demonstrated for cultural diversity. and#149; Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsApplicants for positions which require, as part of the essential functions of the job, driving a motor vehicle, must have a reliable motor vehicle, and acceptable driving record for the past five years, and a current, valid Texas driver's license appropriate for the vehicle and passenger or cargo load. Initial Screening Criteria and#149; Child Protective Services Supervisor I: A bachelorand#146;s degree from an accredited college or university, plus eighteen months of full-time experience in Child Protective Services* or child placement services** in a public social services agency OR currently employed as a Child Protective Services Supervisor I in Family and Protective Services.
