Description/Job Summary

Summary:

The primary function of the Packer is to continually operate and monitor production machines and package finished products.

Responsibilities/Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

*Operates and monitors production machine to manufacture or re-cycle the product

*Removes finished product from the line and packages it as necessary

*Continually checks product for size, weight, strength, printing (if any), and other quality issues and reports same to Set-Up or Supervisor

*Must make cardboard boxes, label boxes, and package with the finished product.

*Must place packaged boxes on pallets inappropriate configuration as has been specified. *Must record production on Production Records

*Assists other Film Line Operators or Shift Supervisor as needed

*Must maintain a neat and clean workstation

*Abides by all Company Policies, including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, and plant rules; practices good housekeeping at all times.

*Performs other duties as required to support department and plant missions.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
