The Senior Buyer, Operations plans material requirements and purchases the raw materials to support all Gainsville manufacturing activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Determines raw material requirements to support production and places purchase orders/releases with suppliers for all raw material components needed for manufacturing.

  • Maintains close coordination with Manufacturing Planning and Scheduling to ensure that adequate quantities of raw material components are available for scheduled and planned production, while maintaining optimum inventory levels.

  • Expedites materials when required and handle any rejections or other problems on purchased materials.

  • Ensures timely and complete deliveries of raw material components.

  • Works with Procurement to assure a smooth transition and eliminate obsolescence when supplier changes are made.

  • Monitors and tracks delivery performance of each supplier and assist in the resolution of quality problems.

  • Works closely with Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Planning and QA during the launch of new products/components to assure the timely release of material to support the launch date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Purchasing, Materials Management or Business or equivalent of three to five (3-5) years related experience in Purchasing and Material Planning in a manufacturing environment.

  • CPIM and/or C.P.M. certification a plus.

  • Excel in both a team and individual setting.

  • Goal oriented and self-motivating.

  • Demonstrated experience with MRP and/or automated scheduling tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Negotiation skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize.

  • Able to work under pressure.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Essential computer skills include Microsoft Office tools, Visio, knowledge of Oracle preferred.

Eligibility Requirements :

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
