Classification Minimum Requirements:

Must meet the requirements of Chapter 493, Florida Statutes and have a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience

Job Description:

Security:

  • Daily Security Operations:Actively participate in the daily implementation of physical security measures, ensuring adherence to museum standards while demonstrating professionalism and exceptional customer service.

  • Incident Investigation:Conduct thorough investigations of incidents involving injuries to visitors or staff, as well as any loss or damage to artwork or museum property.

  • Patrolling Duties:Monitor assigned areas to detect and prevent vandalism, mechanical issues, fire hazards, and theft.

  • Emergency Response:Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including disasters or security breaches, in accordance with established protocols.

Systems:

  • Assist in planning, monitoring, and controlling electronic security systems to ensure optimal performance and coverage.

  • Maintain accurate records including visitor logs, property passes, and volunteer check-ins.

  • Conduct inspections of incoming and outgoing packages and monitor building access to maintain a secure environment.

Acting supervisor:

  • In the absence of the Building Maintenance & Security Supervisor, and as assigned, supervises all security personnel and OPS staff during events scheduled outside of normal business hours.

  • Assists with conducting security training for all new security staff.

  • Provides timely and accurate information to management on unusual conditions or situations within the museum.

Other:

  • Provides security desk coverage as needed or assigned.

  • Assist with set up and break down of equipment, chairs, and tables for Harn activities.

  • Provides security escorts, as assigned.

  • Assist with monitoring of climate controls.

Expected Salary:$17.64 per hour

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • One year of relevant experience

  • Ability to deal effectively with individuals.

  • Ability to recognize dangerous or potentially dangerous situations.

  • Ability to make independent decisions.

  • Ability to respond calmly in an emergency situation and determine proper course of action.

  • Ability to make accurate observations.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Strong attention to detail.
