The Natural Resource Economics Program at the University of Florida, Southwest Florida Research and Education Center, Immokalee, FL, is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated postdoctoral research associate to conduct innovative research in the areas at the nexus of agricultural production and natural resources. This position focuses on conducting problem-oriented and policy-relevant research, developing econometric models to understand the economic and behavioral incentives for using new farm management practices and technology adoption and their environmental implications.

The position is full-time for 1 year with the potential for renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.

UF/IFAS employs nearly 4,500 people, which includes approximately 990 salaried faculty and 1,400 permanent support personnel located in Gainesville and throughout the state. IFAS, one of the nation’s largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations, is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine. UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (foreign equivalent acceptable) in agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics, operations research, or related fields and an outstanding ability to perform thoughtful, critical quantitative analysis. Applicants must have or be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license upon hire. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Preferred:Experience in computational methods linking economic models with biophysical and hydrological models, econometric methods, survey design, spatial analysis, excellent communication skills, knowledge of citrus production, and an interest in working with interdisciplinary researchers is preferred.
