Scope :

This position requires an individual who is flexible and can switch tasks quickly if needed. Each day will be different, meeting the demands of project work but also supporting maintenance and operations issues that may come up at any time. This position involves generally equal time spent both in the office environment and the plant operations area. The individual should be very adept at hands-on electrical work and should be comfortable working in the field with electrical distribution equipment, motors, drives, instrumentation, etc. Collaboration with engineers and production and maintenance groups is critical for this role. The individual is expected to be a positive contributor to safety, environmental and energy conservation programs.

Project Responsibilities

The Electrical Project Engineer will be an active member of capital project teams throughout the total life of the projects, working closely with the Engineering Manager and other engineers and project team members. Our capital projects range in value from $10k to $1M+. Throughout the year, there will typically be many small projects and a few larger projects. This position will be responsible for supporting the initial project preparation including justification, safety analysis, detailed design, either directly or through interaction with contract engineers, and assuring compliance with codes and standards. After completion of detailed design and project approval, the Electrical Project Engineer will procure materials and equipment and help select contractors to install the new assets. This position will be responsible for the supervision of construction activities assuring a safe and successful installation. Once construction is completed, this person will be an active member of the team through commissioning and start-up. This position will require hands-on participation throughout the life of the project.

Operations & Maintenance Responsibilities

The Electrical Project Engineer will regularly support the operations and maintenance groups as needed with tasks such as troubleshooting, electrical system improvements, electrical system inspections, failure analysis, drawing updates and equipment parts information. The individual will also be an integral part of our medium voltage systems inspection, upkeep, and improvement activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering field

  • Project management process skills, including cost estimating, procurement, scheduling and planning and execution of commissioning plans

  • Hands-on experience with installation, modification and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and controls systems

  • Familiarity with 480V electrical distribution systems

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs and Drives and RSLogix software

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience determining electrical and controls equipment issues and solutions

  • Capable of designing elements including control loops, alarms, alerts, interlocks

  • Experience with the creation or review of loop sheets, instrument configuration, installation, wiring, and Control Systems Programming

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams

  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration

  • Demonstrated commitment to on-time performance with minimal supervision

  • Driven to work proactively, both independently and on a team

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of medium voltage systems operation and maintenance

  • Experience working in a 24/7 manufacturing facility

  • Familiarity with extruders and/or fiber lines will be a plus

  • Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk view.

  • Working knowledge of Siemens PLCs and drives / programming software, TIA Portal

  • Familiarity with safety control system design

  • Experience with networking layout and hardware

Required Experience and Education:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering

  • Five to seven years of project engineer experience.

  • Trained in electrical utility safety. .
