Amentum Watch Desk Dispatcher in Ft. Worth, Texas

Contingent upon contract award

Located near DFW Airport (south)

Position Summary:

Primary point of contact for high profile incidents as well as the liaison between the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Operations Center (NOC). Watch Desk is staffed and operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide guidance on Watch Desk protocols to US Postal Inspection Service personnel in a professional manner.

  • Maintain working knowledge of Watch Desk applications, databases, and protocols.

  • Facilitate the dissemination of incident information and critical alerts from other government agencies to Postal Service and USPIS executives and employees.

  • Communicate directly with all agencies’ personnel as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two years law enforcement dispatch experience for external candidates.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain dispatcher certification equivalent to APCO/LEC certification within nine months.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center/National Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems Full Certification within 90 days.

  • High school diploma or general education development diploma.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) USPIS Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a MBI Clearance.

  • Ability to write reports and document events in a concise and accurate manner, including proofreading for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English fluently.

  • Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute.

  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule.

  • Must be willing to be assigned as Dispatcher, as needed.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to handle conflict in stressful situations and maintain professionalism.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Amentum’s Fit for Duty program daily.

  • Immediately report any injury or incident to a supervisor regardless of significance.

  • Assess the work area daily for ergonomic or other hazards common to office work.

  • Report to a supervisor any hazard that you are unable to eliminate or control.

  • Participate in safety initiatives like observations, near misses, and safety committees.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This position regularly works in an office environment with controlled temperature and lighting. This role may require extended periods of sitting and viewing computer monitors. This role requires the ability to hear ordinary telephone and radio conversations with either ear. This role may move equipment weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally.
