Job Description

The Role

Field Researchers are the talented and versatile team responsible for canvassing their markets to collect data & capture imagery to support all CoStar products. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment (camera, iPhone, tablet, camera, and vehicle) our Field Researchers will collect data and photograph commercial properties in their defined geographic territories. Field Researcher are managed remotely by a Field Research Manager located in local markets. Each Field Researcher is given a core territory in which the person is responsible for the research and photography of the commercial properties. This role will be based in market.

Responsibilities:

· Drive square mile grids to collect data on assigned commercial properties and upload data into our proprietary applications and tools.

· Review material changes to commercial real estate within an assigned area to include new availability, building renovation, single tenant, or retail tenant changes, and new or missing inventory.

· Create footprint and rooftop geocode for building when there are gaps in our data.

· Search for all commercial properties for lease and sale and submit any new leads to our centralized research teams.

· Canvass by foot assigned properties to reconcile current roster of tenants, adding, removing, or confirming data for all tenants in the assigned building.

· Canvass constructure sites within territory to provide monthly and quarterly updates.

· Photograph assigned properties and use photoshop software to edit and upload digital images.

· May create media and 360 videos for our residential marketplace brands.

· Follow daily Field Research procedures with regular communication with manager.

· Understand and maintain a pre-determined measure of quality for daily work, specific to property changes, new listings, construction updates and assigned tenant changes.

· Abide by CoStar safety standards to safeguard company vehicle and equipment.

· Represent CoStar in a professional manner at all times.

· Participate in conference calls with sales and research teams as needed.

Physical Requirements of Position

· Repetitive and frequent sitting in a car, standing and walking for up to 8 hours per day. 

· Must lift, carry, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 5 pounds  

· Repetitive hand and arm movements needed to type on a tablet or laptop and operate camera equipment.

· Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, twisting, and carrying are necessary to perform job functions. 

· Ability to work and drive outside during all seasons.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College, (or an Associate’s degree with 5 professional years worked).

· At least 2 years of professional experience

· Strong time management skills and very detailed oriented.

· Capability to accurately capture and enter data.

· Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.

· Knowledge of Windows, Apple OS, Microsoft Office, and Internet applications. 

· The ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts such as commercial real estate terminology, mapping, and GIS concepts. 

· Enjoys working independently in a fast-paced environment.

· Must be able to travel up to 1 week within assigned territory every 4-6 weeks.

· Photography experience preferred.

· Field experience preferred. 

  

Compensation:

The Field Researcher position is a base salary position. We are seeking individuals who thrive in a metrics and performance-based environment.
