Cornerstone Credit Union Member Service Representative 1(Teller) in Freeport, Illinois

Position Purpose

Serves as a representative of Cornerstone Credit Union to assist our members with their financial needs. Responsible for delivering on the CCU Brand Promise by providing prompt, efficient and accurate member service in a courteous and professional manner. Maintain a thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, philosophies and policies.

Essential Functions:

  1. Independently maintain and balance assigned cash drawer.

  2. Perform routine member transactions accurately including, but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, check disbursements, general ledger postings, dead end checks and general functions.

  3. Have a working knowledge of Fiserv and general equipment needed to perform daily work.

  4. Maintain over/short practice, cash drawer limits.

  5. Follow BSA guidelines for CTR and SAR.

  6. Follow check negotiation practices.

  7. Ability to handle problem resolutions using independent judgment to ensure member satisfaction, and to know when to transfer the member to an appropriate CCU employee for resolution.

  8. Demonstrate proficiency in cross selling services offered by CCU. Understand and cross-sell CCU technology (i.e. EARS, CCU website, CU Branch and CU Bill Pay)

  9. Understand and follow applicable CCU policies and standard operating procedures.

  10. Remain aware of, understand and comply with regulatory and compliance issues for deposit accounts.

  11. Respond to inquiries made by members in person in a timely, friendly and professional manner.

  12. Changing and handling the coin bags in the coin machine and perform simple maintenance.

  13. Process mail and night drops.

  14. Knowledgeable about the Credit Union with the ability to answer basic questions.

    15.Learn CCU products and be able to offer members services to improve their financial obligations.

Must have a friendly and positive attitude with eagerness to assist all members. Requires effective member relations and cross selling skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism, work under pressure with strong attention to detail. Must demonstrate follow through on all assigned projects. Requires well-developed interpersonal skills for communicating information. Must be able to effectively work with a team of diverse experiences and skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum 6 months experience in a customer service or similar role with cash handling responsibilities.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Basic PC skills required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills important.

  • Full-time, Monday -Friday, 8:45am-5:15pm, with rotating Saturdays 8:45am-12:15pm. Must be flexible for Saturday rotation.

Performance Standards:

  • Meet monthly incentive goals.

  • Meet expectations for over/short record per CCU Practice.

  • Maintain error correct/void transaction with a 1.00% error ratio or less.

  • Complete daily balancing procedures within 15 minutes of facility closing.
