Mott MacDonald Group Project Manager- Water/Wastewater in Freehold, New Jersey

We are seeking a talented and driven Project Manager for our Freehold Township, New Jersey office to lead municipal water, wastewater, transportation and pedestrian circulation, site development, and stormwater engineering projects in the New Jersey area.

Responsibilities include these:

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct engineering work on projects of medium- to large-scale and moderate complexity.
  • Correspond with clients on project activities, assist with providing quality client services, and support business development opportunities.
  • Manage design, bidding, and construction phase services for water, wastewater, transportation and pedestrian circulation, site development, and stormwater infrastructure projects, including contract administration and oversight of field observation work.
  • Understand public works construction practice and procedures.
  • Understand the various environmental permits required by the NJDEP and the Soil Conservation District, including knowledge of stormwater management permit requirements for Major Development and Tier A Municipal Stormwater Permit.
  • Prepare technical design studies and reports and construction contract bid documents related to municipal and authority-operated sewer systems, including collection, conveyance, treatment, and public works facilities.
  • Develop project proposals, work plans, baseline budgets, and schedules for review and approval by project principal and division manager.
  • Prepare applications for project plan approvals, regulatory permits, and funding programs and implement associated approval conditions.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and work progress and prepare financial status reports.
  • Communicate project details and required actions to team members and stakeholders for successful project execution.
  • Mentor entry-level and mid-level staff and conduct performance reviews for direct reports

The Ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum 7-15 years' experience in water, wastewater, or stormwater design.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer; current registration in New Jersey or New York preferred.
  • Bachelor of science degree in civil, mechanical, environmental, or a related engineering discipline; master of science degree in same engineering fields preferred.
  • Experience in design, bidding, and construction phase services for municipal water, sanitary, stormwater, combined sewer systems, and public works facilities.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic modelling software including WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and PipeFlo
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • High motivation and passion to provide exceptional client service.
  • Solid technical background and project experience demonstrating the potential to grow into a senior project manager role in the wastewater/stormwater field.
  • Ability to lead project teams, mentor early career staff, and proactively resolve issues to accomplish results.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
