Position Summary

The Shift Manager oversees employees, equipment, and production schedules for the Inserting, Bindery, and Card Affixing Departments for Direct Marketing Solutions (DMS).  The Shift Manager communicates with and assists each department in meeting daily production goals and works closely with the Quality Team to ensure output meets client requirements.

Essential Functions

• Reviews/analyzes daily and monthly production reports to identify potential areas of improvement to individual output and shift throughput; recommends and initiates solutions as appropriate.
• Ensures each team member is trained to perform the duties of their job; works with HR to ensure employees have appropriate individual development plans to fill skills gaps and adhere to them.
• Works closely with Equipment Maintenance Manager to identify and resolve daily equipment maintenance issues; elevates serious equipment concerns and/or output issues related to equipment condition to next level leader as appropriate.
• Identifies performance issues with team and works closely with HR to resolve appropriately; maintains current and accurate employee documentation, passing to HR documentation for team personnel folders as required.
• Regularly assesses team engagement levels and motivates individuals as required; works closely with HR on strategies to increase positivity and overall shift/team engagement.   
• Conducts annual and scheduled performance evaluations for team, identifying career pathing opportunities; works with HR to get identified training and development items budgeted.
• Provides regular and timely feedback on work quality and performance to all team members.
• Ensures employees adhere to company policies and government regulations.
• Regularly provides suggestions for process improvements.

• Coordinates with Senior Production Manager regarding logistics when necessary and coordinates with the Inventory and Logistics leaders to ensure the production schedule is met.

   

   

   

Additional Responsibilities

• Completes additional assignments and special projects from the Senior Production Manager as needed.
• Demonstrates behavior consistent with DMS Values and the Code of Conduct.
• Learns and adheres to all information technology and data security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Learns and adheres to DMS rules and established policies for workplace health and safety.
• Adheres to all other DMS policies and procedures.

• Completes all required compliance training on time and in good faith.
