The Life Sciences Operation of the Health Group of Leidos is accepting applications for a Publications Coordinator, contingent upon contract award, to provide scientific and administrative support to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
The NHLBI supports several precision medicine initiatives and promotes data sharing platforms to facilitate discoveries that will revolutionize the treatment of heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders. This work is in support of a large NHLBI biomedical precision medicine-focused consortium. This is NOT a laboratory position,
The Publications Coordinator will be responsible for maintenance of policies and mechanisms for paper proposal and manuscript submission for the consortium. In addition, the Publications Coordinator will assist investigators with the submission process, required information and approvals, and ensuring proper acknowledgement of data used in the manuscript. Responsible for defining and developing processes, policies, roles and responsibilities, and performance metrics. Conducts analysis of mission processes including current state and gap analyses. Will coordinate with teams, ascertaining requirements, such as program functions, input/output, and system techniques. Plans and recommends process improvements, including: future design, change management, and transition planning. Conduct client interviews. Interfaces with all areas of publication proposal project including customer, computer, and client services.
This is a full-time remote position. This is NOT a laboratory position. Some local travel may be required. DC Metro area required.
This position requires a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Primary responsibilities include:
Managing a submission queue and database
Organizing review sessions
Communicating with committee members and investigators
Performing administrative review of manuscripts
Maintaining a current publications list
Performing regular literature searches
Managing database accessions and submissions
Preparing monthly and quarterly status reports and briefings
Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience or PhD. Post-graduate degree should be in biological sciences, or a related discipline.
Ability to obtain and maintain NIH security clearance.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Proficient in suite of Office tools,
Background or experience in informatics and/or precision medicine research.
Demonstrated publication experience
Experience working directly for or with federal scientific agencies strongly preferred
Background in review processes
Background in communications including arbitration
