BluePearl Veterinary Technician - Neurology in Franklin, Tennessee

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Franklin, TN is hiring an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Technician to help start our new Neurology service.

Pay: $20.00 - 40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system .

We are opening a Neurology service and are looking for a Licensed Technician with experience working in a neurology service. The successful candidate will have experience working with advanced imaging equipment, such as an MRI, be proficient with anesthesia, have knowledge of patient safety protocols and provide advanced patient care and client communication. We are looking for an individual who can partner with our Neurologist to help set up this new service and protocols.

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, you will:

  • Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).

  • Be proficient with medical math calculations, including advanced calculations for CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthetized patients.

  • Set up for MRI and CT procedures.

  • Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc. Provide nursing care to neurology patients.

  • Perform call backs and refill medications.

  • Perform physical exam; accurately record vital signs and patient history to medical records.

  • Understand normal vital parameters and neurologic disorders.

  • Proficient with IVC placement and venipuncture

  • Operates all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

  • Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics.
