As a Retail Clerk in our Doll & Toy Shop, you are instrumental in bringing this purpose to life by delivering exceptional service and fostering memorable moments for every guest who enters our doors. 

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Retail Supervisor and Manager, the Retail Clerk is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences by exceeding expectations through quality products and services at our Doll and Toy Shop. This role involves greeting and assisting guests, demonstrating toys and gifts, assembling dolls, cashiering/cash handling, stocking merchandise, maintaining displays, and ensuring cleanliness in designated areas.

Responsibilities:

1. Guest Service and Salesmanship:

   • Assist guests with their purchases, providing product information and recommendations.
   • Process sales transactions accurately on cash registers and handle telephone or in-person orders.
   • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of merchandise to assist guests with selections.

2. Doll and Toy Assembly:

   • Assemble dolls, stuff animals, and complete adoption procedures as requested.
   • Assist guests in selecting doll features such as head, hair color, and clothing.
   • Operate machinery for stuffing and style doll hairpieces.

3. Event Participation:

   • Participate in special activities and events organized through the Castle Shops.

4. Merchandising and Stocking:

   • Unpack, price, clean, and stock merchandise and supplies.
   • Maintain clean displays and designated work areas.

5. Cash Handling:

   • Ensure accountability for cash sales when operating computerized registers.

6. Inventory and Buyer Support:

   • Report items out of stock and provide feedback on guest preferences to support buyer decisions.
   • Assist with inventory counts as needed.

7. Guest Interaction:

   • Answer guest questions about Bavarian Inn and Frankenmuth.
   • Promote the Bavarian Inn Perks Club and other offerings.

8. Cleanliness and Safety:

   • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment according to health code regulations.
   • Adhere to personal cleanliness requirements and workplace safety guidelines.

9. Team Collaboration:

   • Embrace the Bavarian Inn Mission Statement and contribute positively to team dynamics.

Lead Clerk Responsibilities: In the absence of the Retail Supervisor or Manager, the Lead Clerk assumes responsibility for shop operations, including directing and supervising team members, adjusting work schedules, and assigning duties.

Basic Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent (minimum age of 14)

Neat appearance and friendly disposition.

Basic arithmetic and cash counting skills; able to operate a computer cash register.

Ability to stand/walk continually for the duration of shift (8+ hours).

Ability to lift moderate weights occasionally from 30 to 50 pounds.
