Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. What You Will Do:

As the Technical Project Team Leader (Automation), you will assists with managing multiple or complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, or value chains.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with developing project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

  • Coordinating resources across sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain, and manufacturing.

  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have:

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Advise others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions. Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues. Coaches’ others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems. Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

  • Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization. Communicates complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner so that others can understand. Provides relevant, timely and objective subject matter/process expertise and key insight regarding multiple client business areas and affiliated fields. Provides others with information, opportunities, or resources to develop their skills in the area of expertise. Coaches’ others to enhance their proficiency regarding the tenets, practices, and examples of the ‘trusted advisor’ credential.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Champions organization’s project management methodology, tools, and techniques. Manages multiple high-risk, high-cost projects involving multiple stakeholders. Monitors major projects for critical path and actual status versus planned. Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects.

  • Requirement Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques or requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze, and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project. Plays an active or leading role in recording and strong requirement documents in various forms. Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks, and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage. Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation. Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.

  • Project Management Certification (PMP)

  • Previous automation experience with manufacturing and logistics applications.

  • Prior experience with manufacturing technology design and implementation.

  • Additional Locations: Additional PSLD facility locations may be considered for the right candidate.

  • Required Travel: 75% (Domestic/International)

  • This position does offer relocation assistance.

  • Our team embraces flexibility through a hybrid work model. In addition to working onsite at one of our PSLD facilities, our hybrid work model allows employees the flexibility to work from home based on business need.
