Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer the yearly Quality Planning process aligned with the company’s overall business objectives. Track and communicate progress of Quality Plan related activities to PDM leadership including status, timelines, budgets and risk mitigation strategies to ensure completion.

  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor performance, track trends, and drive improvements within the Quality Plan lifecycle.

  • Propose and implement plans to resolve complex issues and execute corrective actions, ensuring a proactive approach to quality management.

  • Manage and develop relationships with diverse stakeholders to secure cross-functional collaboration and engagement.

  • Benchmark quality processes against performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and implement routine process changes to improve organizational performance and operations.

  • Provides thought leadership and collaboration opportunities in the space of quality strategy and planning throughout PDM, Research, and Kite.

  • Leads DMAIC projects and facilitates workshops throughout the continuous improvement lifecycle, from ideation to change sustainment.

  • Monitors overall quality engineering project portfolio, provides mid-range planning, and communicates project outcomes.

  • Coaches and guides QA staff, fostering a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in quality assurance, and proactively apply this knowledge to enhance the company’s QA strategies and processes.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in Quality System principles, concepts, industry practices, and standards.

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to foster a strong rapport with leaders and effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates expertise in Lean Six Sigma, Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) methodology, performance measures, and quality improvement.

  • Certification by ASQ (Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer, and Certified Quality Manager/OE) or other industry-recognized professional organizations.

Typical Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a BS or BA in a science related degree.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience and a MS.

  • Prior people and project management experience.

The salary range for this position is: $177,905.00 - $230,230.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
