KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all aspects of maintenance on production equipment and facilities. Drive uptime improvement efforts by implementing a preventative maintenance program and coordinating all corrective maintenance activities. Ensure that proper staffing, training, tools, and maintenance plans are in place to maximize equipment availability in the most cost-efficient manner.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Supervise and lead all members of the maintenance team.

  • Ensure safe work practices by all maintenance team members at all times.

  • Implement a comprehensive proactive and predictive maintenance program for all equipment including: operating and testing automated lines, systems and equipment; and restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.

  • Work closely with Plant Manager to maintain appropriate maintenance department staffing levels.

  • Responsible for maintaining plant equipment and facility within set budget.

  • Responsible for spare parts inventory, sourcing and ordering as necessary for potential equipment and facility needs.

  • Maintain machine safety while maximizing machine uptime on all production equipment including saws and pallet machines.

  • Work closely with production management to schedule maintenance activities based on equipment, manpower, and spare parts availability.

  • Use data-driven approach to continuous improvement, identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions and additions.

  • Schedule forklift maintenance and ensure daily forklift checklists are performed.

  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing all safety protocols and complying with legal codes and regulations.

  • Assist Plant Manager in annual budgeting process for plant maintenance.

  • Update job knowledge of self and team by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.

  • Use Excel and company software to prioritize and track all maintenance activities.

  • Must be self-motivated, able to work alone as well as on a team.

  • Must be able to motivate a team to a high standard of safety and productivity.

  • Understand the importance of “do what you say.”

  • May be required to be on call for evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Technical school graduate or college education a plus.

  • At least 3 years machine and facility maintenance supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Able to troubleshoot electronics, pneumatic and mechanical systems and direct team to make necessary repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Welding and electrical experience required; some carpentry experience preferred.

  • Forklift experience required, experience moving lumber preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with ability to learn company software programs.

  • Lumber experience preferred but not required.

  • Able to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Able to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

  • Able to communicate ideas clearly and concise, listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others.

  • Able to analyze, define, diagnose, and resolve problems based on sound logic and rationale.

  • Able to listen and communicate effectively.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to make limited and independent judgments based on given alternatives.

  • Able to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Able to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high and requires the use of hearing protection. The employee is required to wear PPE. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The work environment is structured, and lunches and breaks are regulated.
