Actalent Hardware Design Engineer in Fort Worth, Texas

Description:

The primary function of this role is to serve as a Hardware Designer for complex digital and mixed signal systems. This includes architecture, hardware design, and hardware bring-up of PCB designs incorporating FPGA devices. The role involves exploring technology, system performance, and specifications to design and test. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for defining system requirements, integration, debugging, and hardware bring-up in a lab environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design analog and digital circuits through all phases, from requirements analysis and concept development to hardware qualification.

  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform tasks.

  • Determine components required to meet performance and functional requirements.

  • Create schematics and drive PCB layout using Siemens Xpedition tools.

  • Collaborate with Signal Integrity engineers to manage pre and post PCB routing constraints.

  • Prepare design documentation and bills of materials.

  • Verify the accuracy of Bill of Material (BOM) and assembly data (CIM).

  • Ensure availability and facilitate acquisition of new components for builds.

  • Coordinate the building of prototype products and systems.

  • Generate and analyze test data and reports to verify design performance and functionality.

  • Determine root cause of product nonperformance using appropriate test equipment.

  • Participate in design reviews.

  • Work independently and as part of a team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledge of high-performance board design and layout, including transmission line effects, skew, and controlled impedance.

  • Experience with SoCs (System on Chip) and microprocessor peripherals such as Ethernet, USB, PCIe, UARTS, I2C, SPI.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in a lab environment using digital embedded system debug tools (ICE, logic analyzers, JTAG, oscilloscopes).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in new product development.

  • 5-8 years of experience using Siemens Xpedition tools for schematics and PCB layout.

  • Experience with microcontroller-based hardware design and testing.

  • Proficiency in design calculations, simulation, and component selection.

  • Experience with analog and digital circuitry/electronics.

  • Hands-on experience with test equipment such as power meters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.

  • Familiarity with EMI EMC testing, environmental testing, and WCCA (worst case circuitry analysis).

  • Ability to manage and solve complex problems with minimal direction.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
