NBCUniversal, operating from the State-of-the-Art NBC Studios at DFW, is looking for a Director of Technology (DOT) with broadcast and IT exposure to lead a dynamic team that supports content creators and distribution across multiple linear and non-linear television, internet, mobile and OTT platforms. Think heavy metal on-prem systems along with cloud based off-prem mechanics.
A seasoned IT Systems or Broadcast Engineer with exposure to the dev-ops landscape and hands on experience in supporting the media sector and live production systems, preferably with additional project management, system design and integration skills.
With expertise in IP streaming and content management systems along with mastery of video hardware, you will have been responsible for business-critical media technology solutions and both a contributor and POC to the corporate IT and NBC Division Technology team.
You will have a zest for complex projects and will be a stakeholder in upgrading the facility to a leading IP driven state of the art broadcast and data center.
In a perfect world you will have a qualification in IT, Electronics or Engineering along with exposure or certification in AWS cloud mechanics along with career level experience in a media industry related field. Availability – Dallas-Fort Worth is national market five in terms of local broadcasting market importance. NBC Universal’s Duopoly of KXAS, KXTX, plus the ArtHouse, Production Cloud 1.0 and other NBCU business units make DFW a powerhouse in terms of production output and complexity.
Technology Knowledge
Broadcast traditional infrastructure consisting of routing, glue, audio, video, coms, RF, IPTV and transmission systems.
On-Air systems such as Ross studio automation, graphics, camera robotics, video surface scaling, mpeg and IP encoding platforms, NRCS, PSIP, Nielson and namedropper insertion.
IT Systems including CDN’s, storage devices, network architecture, routers, switches, file acceleration, vmware, SCCM, cloud hosting, cyber security, database, active directory, DNS management and DevOps exposure, Dataminer management and control systems.
Connectivity via fiber optics, microwave, satellite, and cellular bonding.
Broadcast standards and encoding including NextGen, SRT, NDI, SMPTE2110 and streaming formats such as HLS, RTMP, HTTP and webRTC.
Basic Qualifications
Requires 5+ years related experience.
Experience in Team Leading and management.
Experience in Broadcast Systems, Production, Networking, Servers, Monitoring and troubleshooting.
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.
Additional Job Requirements
Able to work longer weekly hours, holidays, as well as weekends, when necessary, with short notice.
Must be willing to work in Fort Worth, Texas just south of DFW airport.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Flexibility and ability to pivot from one initiative to the next, while managing multiple concurrent projects from very small to very large.
Accustomed to ongoing reporting & documentation.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with all levels of management.
Driven to maintain high level of customer service, five 9’s reliability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
