Job Summary and Qualifications
As a CVOR Surgical Technician, under the supervision of the manager and registered nurse, the certified surgical technician provides safe and efficient care to the patient in the operating room. Included in this assignment is a strong working knowledge of the perioperative setting and effective communication skills in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.
This position is eligible for up to a $20,000 Sign on Bonus
What You Will Do in This Role
Ensures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment and adhering to Safety Program and Infection Control Programs.
Supports hospital and departmental Performance Improvement Goals.
Assures quality care through compliance with departmental policies, hospital, and external regulatory agency guidelines.
Performs all duties of the surgical technician.
Maintains a safe and clean patient care environment.
Assistsin orientation of personnel.
Maintains professional competence through attendance at mandatory and otherjob-relatededucational opportunities.
Demonstrates sterile techniques.
Knowledgeable of surgical principles, techniques, and procedures for the care of patients.
Knowledge of Operating Room procedures and patient preparation for surgery.
Knowledge of reference standards and regulatory requirements for Operating Room Safety.
Knowledge of surgical equipment.
Patient care involving:
Preparing the operating room and equipment
Preparing the operating room and sterile field for procedures
Anticipating the needs of the surgical team
Pass supplies, equipment or instruments
Sponge or suction operative site
Prepare and cut suture
Transfer and irrigate with fluids
Transfer but not administer medications on the sterile field
Handle specimens according to policy
Hold retractors
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and concepts of disease.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support
Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting
Graduate of a formal training program in operating room technology. Must pass CST exam within 180 days of graduation
Graduate of an accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist and current CSTorcompletion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Serviceoremployed to practice Surgical Technology in a healthcare facility prior to September 1, 2009 required
Two years CVOR Operating Room Experience preferred
Call required, must live within 30 minutes of the facility
