Who will you be working with?

Here you’ll interact daily with team members during the problem resolution process and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our internal customers and their responsibilities.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Global Operations Equipment group, the Final Assembly Business Leader provides frontline leadership for a production team. The Business Leader will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. He/she will drive critical KPIs in safety, quality, and delivery for a large and diverse section of our Locomotive facility. In this role you will integrate and develop manufacturing processes that meet business needs, manage complex and personnel issues, be involved in short and long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience with increasing responsibility

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with heavy equipment manufacturing, electrical assembly, welding and/or fabrication

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Inclusive leader able to work in a cross-functional environment and engage functional stakeholders including HR, Finance and EHS

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify critical issues and identify the root cause of complex issues

  • Strong propensity for excelling in a demanding environment

  • Experience with Lean methodology in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Ensure that your team is operating with the highest environmental health & safety (EHS) standards to drive down environmental & safety incidents, first aids, & recordable injuries.

  • Develop and implement plans to ensure the team meets schedule commitments and ensure production flow

  • Analyze production labor requirements, implementing appropriate capacity decisions within the department's budget

  • Drive key initiatives including EHS, shop productivity, lean, and cycle reductions

  • Champion site teaming culture, drive employee contribution and accountability

  • This role will lead both exempt and direct/HRLY paid team members – he/she will demonstrate leadership in problem resolution, resource utilization and career counseling

  • Create & administer comprehensive training plans to ensure that your team members are equipped & trained to do their jobs.

  • Provide clear communication and operational guidance to management and other Wabtec employees on a daily basis.

  • Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a "one team" focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry/site-specific work rules.

  • Work with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems to manage material and other systemic requirements.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Exposure to shop floor requires wearing PPE

  • Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting is all part of the hands on learning process
