Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with the preparation of the salad bar, maintaining an adequate supply of beverages, ensuring the cafeteria and dining room remain clean at all times, assisting in the preparation and delivery of patient meals and room supplies, operating the dish machine, assisting the cook as required and stocking kitchen necessities on each floor as required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalency required. Must have a basic knowledge of food services sanitation practices.

DIETARY AIDE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains cleanliness of the dining room and food preparation areas at all times.

  • Sweeps and mops floor on a daily basis.

  • Follows the weekly Cleaning Schedule determined by the Food Services Coordinator.

  • Washes dishes and maintains the dish room area in a clean and orderly fashion.

  • Records dish machine temperatures on the log on a daily basis.

  • Complies with all corporate, facility and departmental policies and procedures regarding food service as well as other standards of conduct.

  • Complies with all established guidelines for sanitation and safety.

  • Reports any equipment malfunction immediately to the Food Services Coordinator.

  • Interacts with patients in the serving line with courtesy and offers assistance when needed.

  • Encourages a harmonious working relationship in the department as well as with all employees at the facility.

  • Prepares salad bar, desserts and snacks on a daily basis including set up and clean up.

  • Follows the daily food production directives given by the Food Services Coordinator. Utilizes portion control guidelines when preparing food.

  • Obtains the tray count by unit for each breakfast, lunch and dinner meal, and assists the Cook in preparing each meal tray.

  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.

  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.

  • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.

  • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.

  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.

  • Any other duties or responsibilities as determined by Hospital Administration to be necessary for the effective operation of the facility.
