Army Installation Management Command Recreation Aid (Lifeguard) NF-01 in Fort Novosel, Alabama

Summary Incumbents for these vacancies can be assigned to West Beach, Lake Tholocco, Physical Fitness Center (PFC) Indoor Pool, and Flynn Pool and may be transferred between facilities as the need arises. Responsibilities Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager and assists with the operation of the pool. Performs water tests, under the direction of the pool supervisor. Employ safety rules for the protection of the quests and responsible for lifeguarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21- 21 or assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Maintains dally logs, reports and records as required. Lifeguards will participate In any required training (on-the-Job training emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Possesses and maintains the following certifications: 1. Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) 2. American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional 3. CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED) 4. First Aid Best Qualified Criteria: Possess at least 6 months prior experience as a Lifeguard. *Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and best qualifying criteria will be referred to the selecting official first. * NOTE: This is an open continuous announcement to provide a ready pool of available applicants as needed. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
