Weld County Government Motor Vehicle Technician- Ft Lupton in Fort Lupton, Colorado

Supervision Received Work under general supervision from the Clerk & Recorder, Chief Deputy, Motor Vehicle Office Coordinator and Motor Vehicle Manager, Office Technician IV, and Motor Vehicle Trainer.

We have positions located in Ft Lupton

$19.84 - $25.14 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting). This position will start at $19.84 per hour.

Perform entry level work inspecting, assessing, and auditing applications and legal documents submitted for vehicle registration and licensing of all types of motorized vehicles in the applicable statutory guidelines, develops the knowledge and skills necessary to issue motor vehicle titles, plates, and registration documents, and in collecting all applicable fees and taxes. Examples of Duties: - Employee is responsible for the examination of all documents pertaining to ownership, license fees, and sales tax, and for identification. - Employee is responsible for the collection of fees as required by law and in accordance with statutory guidelines. - Issues permits, titles, registrations, handicap placards and license plates as appropriate. - Ensuring accuracy and enforcing compliance with appropriate statutory regulations including but not limited to emissions standards, insurance requirements and secure and verifiable identification. - Work involves heavy public contact; assisting the public with general inquiries, assisting in researching and resolving complex tax, title, registration related problems and processing required paperwork. - Assists the public by phone, through electronic media, and in writing regarding complex tax, title, registration related problems and processing required paperwork. Works to resolve complex transactions, utilizing negotiation and problem resolution skills with sensitivity to the voters' needs and expectations. - Process all incoming mail; review documents received for completeness and accuracy; prepare for data entry; process mortgage mail, renewals, and drop-off work received. - Process registrations involving GVW, SMM, TVW and the added special requirements for these vehicles. - Must be able to research information on Motor Vehicle issues using various resources. - Perform VIN inspections. - Perform voter registration and marriage licenses and perform oath of honesty as needed. - Employee is also responsible for performing routine clerical tasks as requested. Operates a variety of office equipment, communicates current and anticipated problems to superior. - Maintain assigned state inventory and files and records requires by the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle. - Participate in the opening and/or closing functions as directed; verifying cash receipts, reconciling check, payport, and cash reports and running required accounting tapes. Resolves minor discrepancies when necessary, working to ensure that all monies collected are in balance. - Contact financial institutions or dealerships regarding customer paperwork; figure all sales tax due. - Provide input regarding new projects, equipment evaluation, production and quality standards. - This position acts as an agent for the State of Colorado. - Serve as a liaison between Clerk & Recorder's Office; representatives of business and industry, trade and professional associations, and clients. Provides or disseminates information, both orally and in writing, regarding statutory changes and/or policy modifications. - Serve as a representative of the designated election official when required, fulfilling all roles and/or tasks as assigned. As directed, assist in other departments and/or with County-wide events. - Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
