U.S. Army Sustainment Command Materials Handler in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

Summary About the Position: This position is located at the U.S Army Sustainment Command, Logistic Readiness Center at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. This is a Term Not to Exceed 13 Months position. Responsibilities Work involves the receipt, storage, turn-in and issue of organizational clothing and equipment items. Determining whether received items are serviceable. Inventory procedures and skill in making accurate inventories in order to participate in cyclic and special inventories. Uses common hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers and pliers as well as hand trucks, hand lifts, pallet jacks, dollies and electric jack lifts in performance of duties. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to sort and/or store various types of materials in a warehouse setting; AND operate light equipment for material transport. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT Work requires prolonged standing, walking and stooping and moderate lifting (usually not exceeding60 pounds). WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside warehouses in bin room and on receiving and shipping docks. The areas may be cold, drafty, damp or hot. Work is performed in close quarters in/on warehouses, bin aisles, ramps or platforms. Exposed to injury from falling stock, handling materials, and mechanical equipment. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One-year trial period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
