Army Installation Management Command Supervisory Recreation Specialist (OR) NF-04 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina

Responsibilities Develops, manages, maintains and administers the installation Outdoor Recreation Program and facilities to include but not limited to: Campgrounds, Equipment Check-Out Center, Lake with beach for swimming, a high adventure program. Plans, supervises and directs outdoor recreation activities and services which may constitute a year-round or seasonal program. Devises, improvises, and adapts these various activities to fit the conditions of the natural environment, and to conform to limitations in funds, facilities, equipment, and staff support. Responsible for inventories and property; determines equipment condition; initiates maintenance, repair or replacement as appropriate. Recommends purchase/construction of equipment and facilities and oversees the instruction of customers and monitors proper usage of equipment. Prepares appropriated and non-appropriated budgets and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with regulations and ensures proper procedures are used to ensure that no misappropriation of funds occurs and maintains effective internal controls. Integrates risk management, and installation and organization safety program requirements into everyday operations and activities. Supervises recreation, administrative support and maintenance staff. Outdoor Recreation resources are used by the general public, in addition to assigned military personnel, and other authorized guests. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Directly related work experience that included the goals, principles, method of techniques, of outdoor recreation and understanding the interests of individuals and groups. Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Work experience supervising support staff in outdoor recreation programs. Demonstrated work experience must be equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. Highly Qualified: Possess a Certified Leisure Professional through National Recreation and Park Association and work experience as indicated above. Bachelor's degree in the recreation/outdoor program areas. Minimum two years' experience managing an outdoor recreation program or comparable business operations. Leadership experience training/supervising staff in customer service, equipment handling/maintenance/repair, scheduling, inventory management, budget execution. Understanding of risk management and safety protocols for outdoor activities. Experience promoting rental services, outdoor programs or comparable business operations through events, workshops, marketing campaigns. Demonstrated achievements in difficult situation leading to program/operation improvement thro h creative problem solving and critical assessment.
