GENERAL FUNCTION
The Mold Tech III performs all functions related to maintaining, repairing and modifying frame and lens injection mold tooling to meet engineering, quality and production standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-
Perform preventive maintenance for frame and lens injection molding tools
Perform repairs for damaged injection molding tools.
Read and understand tooling drawings showing complex parts and assemblies.
Assist Tooling Manager with determining root cause of damaged injection molding tools.
Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly of molds in a safe and timely manner and understand how it functions.
Ability to clean molds and assist Process Technicians when needed
Utilize measuring equipment that include micrometers, calipers, height gage, bore micrometers, etc.
Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock.
Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery.
Assist in maintaining records on Manufacturing Execution System(MES)
Work with Process Engineers troubleshooting issues with tool or creating improvements.
Ability to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct any issue to keep down time at a minimum.
Fit up cores, cavities, ejector pins and moving parts within .0005 clearance.
Ability to operate a Surface grinder with in a + or - .0002 on critical details.
Ability to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe with in a + or - .001 tolerance.
Knowledge of Manifold systems Example: Mold Master, Synventive, etc.
Report daily activities via email to Tooling Manager and Production teams.
Ability to polish and bench details.
Ability to weld as needed
Ability to fit new detail and spot in.
Must be a team player, educate and share ideas
Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of hands on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance.
5+ years of experience using hand operated tool room equipment.
Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
Ability to read and understand tooling drawings.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Willingness to learn new technologies
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Tool making certificate working in die cast or plastic injection molding
SAP or other CMMS experience. Prototype Tool making experience
Injection Molding process Experience
Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification preferred
Trade School or College
Must either own or be able to obtain basic hand tools required to complete job responsibilities.
Pay Range: [[$65,082.00]] - [[$96,097.00]]
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
