WestRock Company Production Supervisor, Paper in Florence, South Carolina

The opportunity:

The Production Supervisor for the Paper Department has primary responsibility for managing the safety, reliability, cost, quality, productivity, and employee engagement in a goal-oriented environment. They also have a secondary responsibility to effectively communicate with the Fiber and Power/Utilities, Department Shift Supervisors to ensure effective 24/7 operations of the Florence Mill. This position is a salaried-exempt role and has process responsibility for one paper machine and a shipping department.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Administers and model’s safety in designated area of responsibility; participates in and supports the safety programs for the Mill; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and Mill safety rules.

  • Ensures compliance with all environmental rules and policies.

  • Makes sound decisions and communicates clear instructions, driving excellence within the process.

  • Ensures systems and structures are fully understood and used by the team (includes maintaining current standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides are correct)

  • Fully focused and engaged in all aspects of designated responsibility, creating a culture of self-sustaining engagement throughout the department.

  • Excellent, and demonstrated, analytical and problem-solving skills.

What you need to succeed:

  • 3+ years Paper Mill experience required

  • Engineering or Paper Science degree preferred

  • Process Engineering experience a plus

  • Computer working knowledge such as Microsoft Office Suite, PI Processbook, JD Edwards, etc.
