* How You Will Make An Impact:* The Special Education Coordinator will coordinate the implementation of the Special Education Program goals, objectives, and action plans designed to provide and improve learning opportunities for exceptional students. The coordinator will perform a variety of professional activities involved in the observation, assessment, and identification of psychological, behavioral, and educational needs of referred or identified students; develop/implement effective interventions, instructional approaches/strategies/methodologies; and consult/collaborate with other school team members in the planning and evaluation of school programs and services to meet the special needs of students. This position reports to the Principal or the Designee.

Focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of researched-base effective instruction to support students with disabilities.

Develop, implement, and conduct in-service training sessions for parents, faculty, and staff to enhance student's educational, developmental, and remediation services; prepare and deliver oral presentations.

Provide advice and counsel for teachers and principals on special education matters.

Monitor, oversee, and maintain Special education timeliness and records at the school level in compliance with federal, state, and district mandates while demonstrating the proper maintenance of records to the team.

Engage in the review of Special Education files and student evaluation activities related to special education.

Assist in assuring educational activities for identified students comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Stay current with special education policies and trends by researching new and innovative practices, maintaining professional memberships, attending conferences, and participating in SELPA activities and training.

Communicate with school personnel, outside agencies, and the public to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues or concerns.

Review, monitor quality services, and participate in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and various other meetings concerning students with special needs; collaborate with parents, school staff, and administrators in
