Sunny Patch Learning Center Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher in Flint, Michigan

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a full-time position responsible for the Infant/Toddler classroom as an independent professional and/or as part of a team. The Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher provides developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children aged 0-3 years old. Activities include planning and implementing lesson plans, gathering materials and supplies to prepare for daily activities, indoor/outdoor play, assisting with mealtimes (breakfast, lunch, and snacks), diapering, and assisting children upon arrival and departure. The employee fulfilling this job provides a healthy, clean, safe environment and adheres to the regulations of DHHS Licensing Rules & Regulations. This position works under the direction of the Site Director.

INFANT/TODDLER LEAD TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Safety and Accountability:

  • Maintain the ongoing record of attendance of children.
  • Complete all written communications correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain sight and sound supervision of all children.

Health and Nutrition:

  • Use and teach appropriate health practices which include hand-washing techniques, diapering/toileting procedures, and food service procedures.
  • Feed children according to the developmental and programmatic guidelines for the age group to which they are assigned.
  • Responsible for the care and cleanliness of the furniture, materials, and surfaces in the classroom to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all areas used by children in their care to ensure that there are no potential health and/or safety hazards.

Environment:

  • Maintain appropriate room arrangements and visual displays.
  • Ensure that classroom areas are clean, organized, and well-equipped.
  • Model and train on the appropriate use of materials and equipment used by children in their care.

Attachment and Positive Guidance:

  • Form appropriate attachments with children in their care.
  • Establish a nurturing relationship with each child.
  • Implement positive guidance strategies.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with parents, children, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Create and maintain a positive classroom environment.

Education and Assessment:

  • Assess the needs of each child in their care and create developmentally appropriate lessons that meet their needs.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the lessons and activities in meeting the children's needs.
  • Keep a record of the children's progress through documentation and sample work in each child's portfolio.

Professional Development:

  • Attend training, workshops, and courses required for the position.
  • Work to promote the success of the center by being supportive, flexible, and a team player.
  • Adhere to center personnel policies.

INFANT/TODDLER LEAD TEACHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certification
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification
  • Able to pass a Background Check.

``` - Great attendance track record. - Must be at least 21 years old. - Able to perform all physical aspects of the position, including but not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs., getting up and down on the floor, bending to the child's level, and standing for an undetermined amount of time.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year of classroom experience with knowledge of Early Childhood Practices, or CDA Certification.
