Genesee Intermediate School District Human Resources Leave and Support Specialist in Flint, Michigan
The Human Resources Leave and Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing various human resources functions with a focus on leave of absence management and critical tracking of probationary employees, attendance and stay interviews. This position ensures compliance with district policies and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Human Resources Leave and Support Specialist serves as a backup for benefits administration and assists the Executive Director for Human Resources with policy-related tasks.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Oversees and manages employee leave of absences, including FMLA, disability, bereavement, ADA, ESTA, workers compensation, independent medical examinations (IME's), etc., ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policies.
Tracks, maintains, and monitors employee evaluation records for non-certificated staff, ensuring timely completion and compliance with district policies. Ensures all forms are current to reflect new or modified jobs.
Assists the Executive Director of Human Resources with policy development, revisions, and implementation as assigned and special projects as needed.
Monitors and tracks district stay interviews, analyzes data for trends, and reports findings to leadership.
Manages and tracks probationary, non-certified staff employees, ensuring compliance with established periods and procedures.
Manages and tracks attendance for employees, ensuring compliance with established periods, master agreements, policies, and procedures.
Oversees the district's workers' compensations program, blood borne pathogens and OSHA reporting requirements, ensures accurate tracking, reports, and compliance with regulations.
Works with the Benefits Specialist and Personnel Specialist to implement benefit objectives that align with the district's strategic goals, including being an active participate of the wellness committee.
Serves as a backup for Benefits Specialist, assists employees with open enrollment, and benefit questions and resolves issues as needed. Provides clear and accurate information about benefit plans and procedures.
Participates in HR-related trainings and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and legal compliance.
Works with insurance providers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and other benefit vendors to track and resolve issues.
Maintains accurate records of employee benefits data. Utilizes Schools Open as the HR information systems to maintain benefit data and primary information resources.
Maintains the integrity of confidential employee information and handles sensitive information with discretion subject to, but not limited to, social security numbers, salaries, complaint investigation, retirement income, medical conditions, second opinions, workers' compensation, independent medical exams (IMEs) and disability claims.
Utilizes technology to realize efficiencies in the processing of human resources data.
Composes and prepares correspondence and complex reports.
Consistently models the Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Serves on district committees as requested by department administrator.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensure timely completion of tasks, and generate relevant reports as required to support departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or a related field required. Completion of MSBO's HR Specialist Certification required or obtained within the first two years of position.
