DESCRIPTION

Starting Pay: $15.0000 Hourly ($31,200) After 1st Year: $16.4955 Hourly ($34,311) After 2nd Year: $19.2774 Hourly ($40,097) After 3rd Year: $19.7138 Hourly ($41,005) After 4th Year: $20.1864 Hourly ($41,988) After 5th Year: $20.6905 Hourly ($43,036) After 6th Year: $21.1958 Hourly ($44,087) After 7th Year: $21.7322 Hourly ($45,203)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years' experience in food handling and preparation on a large scale.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Submit to a TB test on an annual basis with a negative result. Certified in Food Service Management within one (1) year from date of employment.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs responsible tasks in the preparation of food and distribution of meals; responsible for kitchen activities in the absence of the Chef/ Production Manager; works under supervision; performs related duties as required.

STATEMENT OF TASKS:

  • Monitors portions and temperature control of meals prepared at the assigned GCCARD operated kitchen on a daily basis;
  • Assists with the monthly in-service training of staff in sanitation and kitchen operations in accordance with current State guidelines;
  • Attends all required meetings;
  • Prepares salads for daily meals in accordance with established menu cycle;
  • Assists in the preparation of deserts and other food items;
  • Assists in wrapping and packaging meats for distribution to food sites;
  • Assists in cleaning utensils, counters and cupboards and other kitchen equipment;
  • Assists in unloading and storing supplies when delivered to the kitchen.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of food handling and preparation;
  • Ability to understand and follow directions;
  • Ability to handle food stuffs in prescribed sanitary manner;
  • Ability to work with diverse populations;
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;
  • Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions;
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
