About the Department/College

12 month non-tenure track position to join our accredited Competency and Entrustment-Based Education Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program, consisting of one hybrid program and two residentail programs located at the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) and Flagstaff Mountain Campuses. Northern Arizona University (NAU) will not provide any U.S. immigration support or sponsorship for this position.

The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). The NAU DPT Program is a key part of NAU New Economy Initiative to prepare more DPT learners to stay in Arizona and work to address the health disparities in the state. For this initiative to be successful, the DPT Program partners with our community and academic partners to remove barriers and increase access to physical therapist education programs.

About the Position

The Northern Arizona University (NAU) Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is a leader in Competency and Entrustment-Based Education (CEBE) to meet the diverse and evolving health needs of society. A CEBE approach seamlessly aligns outcomes and assessment processes throughout a curriculum of didactic and clinical education courses to prepare graduates for the demands of physical therapy clinical practice. The NAU DPT Program consists of one hybrid program and two residential programs located in Phoeni and Flagstaff.

The NAU DPT Program seeks a candidate whose professional experiences support this paradigm shift and the use of technology reflective of the future of health professions education. This is a 12-month non-tenure-track position primarily in the hybrid program. The breadth and depth of our current faculty allows a review of candidate applications from all key areas of practice with a primary focus on neuromuscular and cardiopulmonary therapeutics. This position is eligible for working remotely with an expectation to participate in residential immersion experiences each semester.

Responsibilities Include:

Job duties associated with the competencies expected for a faculty member responsible for teaching and conducting scholarly activities in neurophysiological and primary care areas of a physical therapy curriculum include:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement curriculum content related to neurophysiological and primary care aspects in the physical therapy program.

Teaching: Deliver lectures, lead discussions, and provide hands-on learning experiences in neurophysiology and primary care topics to students.

Research: Conduct scholarly research activities, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and participate in research collaborations within the field.
