Otter Tail County Nutritionist in Fergus Falls, Minnesota

Otter Tail County is accepting application full-time Nutritionist. The purpose of this position is to promote healthy eating behaviors and physically active lifestyles, and to provide professional nutritional assessment, consultation, and education to the public health community. This includes nutrition and breastfeeding education, counseling, support, and promotion. Examples of Duties Certifies or enrolls participants in the Women, Infant and Child (WIC) supplemental nutrition program after establishing eligibility. o Conducts nutrition and health assessment. o Determines nutrition risk. o Prescribes supplemental foods. o Provides nutrition and breastfeeding education. o Completes referrals based on identified needs. o Develops and inspects individualized nutrition care plans that provide education and referrals for those identified as high-risk individuals. Performs public health nutrition activities, participates in program planning and evaluation as assigned, and may deliver direct participant services to pregnant women, new mothers, babies and young children. Plans and coordinates local breastfeeding promotion and support activities. Promotes health and well-being by providing accurate and culturally sensitive nutrition, physical fitness, health and disease information to individuals, caregivers, and the community. Supports public information campaigns and events, worksite, school, and community-based wellness programs to promote WIC, healthy eating behaviors and physically active lifestyles. Provides consultation with public health agency staff and other health professionals regarding nutrition issues. Respond to disasters and assist communities in recovery to prevent the spread of disease or injury by recognizing deviations from the norm that might indicate an emergency; communicate clearly within chain of command; assume functional role according to emergency operations plan; participate in drill/exercises. Assumes responsibility for meeting continuing education requirements to maintain licensure/registration and to ensure that self-knowledge increases, is current, and relevant to changing health practices. Adheres to general employment conditions such as personnel rules, work and safety rules, dress codes, etc. Regular attendance is required to perform the duties of this position. Performs other duties as assigned. May work within the Partnership4Health Community Health Board with programs that involve Cross-Jurisdictional sharing (CJS). May assist with duties and responsibilities as outlined in the County Emergency Operations Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position, and generally the work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The 2024 starting hourly salary is $34.15, depending on qualifications, with potential career advancement to $51.23.
