Job Overview:

Control and instrumentation design and engineering. Work includes producing instrument indexes and I/O lists, tagging and P&ID and package documentation review.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake activities and tasks assigned by the Lead Engineer with minimal or no supervision and guidance. These will typically comprise of:

  • Management of Instrument database (SPI / AVEVA Instrumentation) including use of the index, datasheets, wiring, admin and import utilities.

  • Preparation, checking and approval of specifications, indexes, design drawings, studies and general control and instrumentation documentation.

  • Tagging and review of P&IDs.

  • Review and checking of third-party supplier drawings and documentation for all types of instrumentation and control system equipment.

  • Developing MTOs.

  • Interface with third parties including clients and suppliers.

  • Supervision, support and guidance of subordinate engineers and designers including within high value centres.

  • Engineering support during construction and commissioning phase activities.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Preferably engineering degree.

  • Typically 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Access and preferably SQL.

  • Awareness of the detail design engineering process.

  • Experience in petrochemical or related industries.

  • Supervision of engineers and designers within the control and instrumentation discipline is preferable.

  • Liaison with project management and other engineering departments within a project team
