Network Designs Inc Technical Writer - Part- time #1124596 in Fayetteville, North Carolina

Job Description:

NDi is seeking a Technical Writer with a strong background in developing, writing, and editing material for technical and administrative publications. In this role, you will support a project team tasked with setting up an enterprise system and service to a government customer. Your support with be key to the team ensuring accurate and timely technical and administrative documentation is created and posted, if needed. As a technical writer, you will also play a critical role in ensuring that project deliverables are well-documented, accurate, and accessible to both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must possess Active Secret security clearance.
  • This position is currently remote.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in English, Journalism, History, Political Science, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience producing management briefings, project status reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Familiar with DOD network infrastructure as it relates to Network Enterprise Operations, navigating firewalls, DOD services integration, and DOD certificate routing requirements?
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in using SharePoint and MS Teams
  • Knowledgeable in using Jira and Confluence.

Desirable Qualifications-

  • Previous technical wiring experience within the DOD.
  • Previous technical writing experience as a member of an enterprise network project.
  • Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC).
  • Experience writing 508 compliant documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Development- Research, write, and edit various types of documents, including descriptive policy documents, system documentation, process and procedure documentation, manuals, and guides for IT systems.
  • Collaboration- Work closely with technical teams to understand documentation requirements and the products being developed. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Artifacts- Assists in collecting and organizing information required for the preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
  • Editing- Edits functional descriptions, system specifications, user's manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents
  • Job Aids and Tutorials- Develop easy-to-understand job aids and tutorials to guide end-users through processes in different program functional areas.
  • Audience-Appropriate Documentation- Assist project leadership in tailoring documentation to suit its intended audience, ensuring that content is clear and comprehensible.
  • Documentation Management- As needed, create, update, and manage documentation related to project performance, program requirements, and meeting minutes. Maintain organized document repositories using either contractor internal or client-specified cataloging system.
  • Coordination- Coordinate and prioritize concurrent activities in a deadline-driven environment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality documentation.
  • Technical Proficiency- Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and work with technical subject matter experts to present them clearly in text and visuals.
  • Documentation Quality- Produce high-quality documentation suitable for various audiences.
  • Content Analysis- Analyze existing content for reuse and incorporation into new documentation.
  • Communication- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to plan document production, generate schedules, and assign tasks to writers.
  • Content Creation- Ability to create and update content based on templates and existing documents.
