The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking candidates for an Admissions Counselor. As an Admissions Counselor, you will educate incoming first-year students, adults, transfer students, parents/family members, and school counselors about the University of Maine at Farmington, which includes the college selection, application, and admissions processes. This position is responsible for all aspects and phases of college admissions, including recruitment, counseling, advising, and evaluation of prospective students and applicants. Evenings & weekends are required as necessary, with extensive travel. This is a full-time (40-hour work week), fiscal year appointment.

    Qualifications:

    Required Competencies

  • Knowledge and adaptability - Understanding and sensitivity towards the needs of diverse populations. Experience in higher education administration and college and university admission; in depth understanding of the college admission process and the factors involved in making admission decisions.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making

  • Technology Utilization- Demonstrated ability to learn and use new technology; computer proficiency/knowledge; adept at learning and using software programs.

  • Team Building – Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.

  • Geographic Management - Demonstrated geographic management which includes, but not limited to: recruitment, selection, yielding activities, program and event management experience.

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University.

  • Ability to travel extensively.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in Admissions or a closely related professional field.

  • Experience working with high school/college-bound students and families.

  • Knowledge and ability to work with various social media platforms.
