Reporting to the Head of HR, this role will be responsible for supporting the operational side of the US business. Although there are the usual HR activities, we are looking for someone with excellent communications and teamwork skills to support with US HR policies and legalities, deliver the wider people plan, support management programs and talent development, as well as enhancing the good stuff that often doesn't get the attention it should.

What you will need

·        A Bachelors in Human Resources or related field preferred.

·        Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or HR Certification Institute (HRCI) Certification.

·        Previous experience as a HR Advisor or similar role, preferably in a small to medium sized company.

·        Excellent people management skills with the ability to build and maintain credible and strong professional relationships at all levels, showing cultural sensitivity, patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

·        Ability to work flexibly to support business needs as required.

·        Strong current working knowledge of US and Michigan employment legislation and regulations and other statutory requirements.

·        Good level of numerical and analytical skill and attention to detail.

·        Competent using computer-based packages, Excel, Word and MS Outlook and comfortable with new software tools.

·        Be a self-starter, proactive and able to work on own initiative and be a team player.

Key Responsibilities

·        You will be the main point of contact to support the US leadership team in tackling HR issues providing advice in line with US and Michigan employment law and regulations.

·        Provide advice to managers and employees regarding company policies, procedures and best practices.

·        Answer queries from employees in relation to their employment in a competent, respectful, and confidential manner in addition to being available to all US personnel as a point of elevation for HR issues outside of their regular line management.

·        Advise, support and coach managers with grievances, disciplinary actions, absence management and performance management cases.

·        Stay current with changes to US and Michigan employment law and regulations.

·        Review, monitor, update and develop all HR policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and legal compliance.
