Job Description
Raymarine is a world leader in marine electronics, We design, develop, and manufacture cutting-edge products for the boating industry such as such as Radars, Multifunctional Displays and Thermal Cameras.
The role is based in our headquarters and design and development centre in Fareham UK and the majority of this role is focused on supporting the development and introduction of new marine electronics products.
As Senior Buyer, you will be part of the Direct Procurement team. You will be responsible for strategic sourcing which includes; managing the commercial, technical, and quality aspects of supplier selection, new part introduction, supplier production process qualification, quality, cost negotiations, and supplier relationship management.

Duties & Responsibilities
Sourcing strategy & Supplier performance
Define commodity strategies ensuring technology roadmap, New product cost and schedule requirements are satisfied and supply security maintained.
Select, evaluate and approve new suppliers to meet current and future project and business requirements.
Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement.
Manage supplier relationships and supplier development.
Provide escalation path for manufacturing sites and planners if supplier performance does not meet requirements.
New product introduction
Manage the introduction of new parts into the supply chain to meet cost, quality and project schedule requirements. Negotiate costs, manage supplier related project schedules and ensure supplier implements qualified production processes. Deliver the supply chain requirements of the new product introduction process within tight deadlines.
Manage early supplier involvement activities including Design for cost and quality and use knowledge to influence the direction of new designs.
Risk Management, Mitigation & supply security
Regularly assess risk in the supply chain including environmental, social, governance, supply, financial, geopolitical, quality and ethical risks.
Define and implement risk mitigation plans to address intolerable risks.
Monitor supply security and implement actions as necessary to protect and secure supply.
Project manage supplier resourcing projects where supply security necessitates change.
Cost & Commercials
Implement, maintain and police contractual agreements and statements of work where appropriate to protect the interests of Raymarine.
Apply commodity knowledge and production expertise to reduce cost, cycle time and drive efficiencies though the supply chain.
Deliver negotiated cost reductions on existing materials to provide margin improvement.
Drive value engineering projects to reduce cost where appropriate.
Quality
Responsible for all aspects of supplier quality including:
Supplier quality performance measurement and reporting to senior management
Resolve quality issues quickly and effectively
Drive proactive quality improvement activities in supply chain
Manage compliance requirements associated with responsible commodities such as ROHS, REACH & other relevant country supply chain related environmental legislation.
Change management
- Manage supplier implementation of engineering changes for responsible commodities and products.
To be ready to take on this role we would love if you have
Extensive experience managing supplier selection and new product introduction within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
Significant experience managing relationships across cultural and geographic boundaries and must be willing to travel
Direct experience in negotiating contracts and commercial agreements
Detailed understanding of the design requirements and manufacturing processes and global industry knowledge responsible commodities
In-depth knowledge of Six-sigma, SPC, Lean manufacturing principles
Capability to solve problems with third parties in a timely cost effective manner
Strong ability to multi task in a fast paced environment
Education & Skills
Higher Education qualification in relevant engineering discipline preferred with strong desire to work in procurement and supply chain management
Or Business related qualification with strong interest in engineering & technical aspects of supplier management
Chartered institute of purchasing and supply qualifications considered an advantage
Must be competent in Excel
Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written
