Job Summary: West have identified Advanced Therapeutics, which includes cell and gene therapies as an area for strategic growth. This newly created lab co-op role has been created for an individual to work within the laboratory facility at West's Applied Research R&D site in Radnor, PA. The role will report to the Director, Advanced Therapies R&D at West. This group is tasked with working on big 'R' research on behalf of the rest of the organization and will keenly focus on technology fields that are adjacent and transformational to West's core business. The summer intern will support research in innovations in containment systems for advanced therapies. Experiments will explore projects in the field of primary containment of cell therapy products and help the company evaluate the suitability of existing and new product offerings for this application. The data generated will support ongoing research collaborations at West. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct and support laboratory research studies to build understanding around the performance of emerging West innovations as directed by senior personnel. Accurately generate and record data using West test methods and work instructions. Prepare test samples and assist other laboratory analysts as needed. Must always adhere to company's safety and quality policies. Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Studying for or have recently gained a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, or related field. Prior experience in laboratory either at college or industry position preferred. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Prior experience in culturing cells and associated analytical testing. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. General understanding of statistical concepts Willingness to learn and apply new analytical techniques. Able to follow detailed laboratory protocols. Able to communicate around experimental details and data. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Travel Requirements: None: No travel required Physical & Mental Requirements: Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
