Robert Half Staff Accountant in Evansville, Indiana
Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to strengthen our financial operations and reporting functions in Evansville, Indiana. This role involves a wide range of tasks such as job cost management, general ledger reconciliations, and processing accounts receivable. As a Staff Accountant, you'll be expected to use your strong analytical skills and solid understanding of accounting principles to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the accurate and timely application of payments by processing accounts receivable
• Prepare and maintain financial statements for accurate record-keeping
• Conduct general ledger reconciliations and create journal entries
• Regularly monitor cash flow and perform bank reconciliations to maintain financial health
• Support financial audits and tax filings, focusing on sales tax and corporate tax compliance
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement, contributing to better financial decision-making
• Manage customer setup, including billing, tax information, and tax exemption documentation
• Maintain job change orders and ensure proper documentation to support job cost management
• Monitor contract status and work closely with leadership to identify underbilling, overbilling, or potential cost issues
• Update Work in Progress (WIP) reports in coordination with operations, ensuring accurate project accounting
• Review and reconcile AR balances, ensuring accurate payment application
• Follow up on billing disputes and customer inquiries to support collections, ensuring customer satisfaction
• Maintain compliance with customer contract requirements, adhering to industry standards
• Assist with payroll processing when needed, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
• Support billing functions and maintain customer portal updates, ensuring up-to-date information is always available. Requirements
• Must have experience with Bank Reconciliations
• General Ledger skills are essential
• Must be familiar with creating Journal Entries
• Experience with Job Cost
• Must be able to Prepare Financial Statements
• Knowledge of Project Accounting
• Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress preferred
