Department Summary

The Prevention Science Institute (PSI) is a multi-disciplinary institute focused on understanding human development, preventing behavioral health problems, and implementing effective interventions in community settings. The PSI encompasses focus areas consistent with the field of prevention science, including prevention and intervention, and implementation science. Understanding effective intervention strategies and the outcomes associated with these interventions across multiple domains of functioning, including biological, social, and contextual, is the focus of research at the PSI. The core mission of the PSI is to improve the lives and well-being of children, individuals, and families throughout the lifespan. The PSI is committed to research that expands our understanding of interventions and development with diverse populations, and actively seeks to promote research that reduces health disparities in service utilization.

Position Summary

The recruiter and assessor will be responsible for contacting families for recruitment into a longitudinal study; scheduling research assessments (remote and in-person) within their targeted assessment window; coordinate scheduling in conjunction with family, research staff and equipment/room availability; tracking completion of individual study components (e.g., participant surveys, biospecimen collections); working collaboratively with site recruiters and interviewing staff at the University of Oregon, Oregon Health Sciences University, and Brown Medical School for cross-site coordination of study recruitment and scheduling needs; respond to inquiries and answer project related questions from participants on a day-to-day basis; continuously maintain and update the study database with participant information, scheduling and assessment notes, participation status, individual data component status, and all stages of assessment; maintain positive, good working relationships with study families across multiple points of contact; troubleshoot recruitment issues/difficult cases with assistance from supervisor; coordinate retention-driven mailings, recruitment letters, and newsletters; assist in developing new and innovative ideas to maintain contact with families and/or reengage reluctant participants; provide summary reports to supervisor, as needed; work closely with the assessment and data management teams to coordinate data collection needs, including the collection of missing data.

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS degree in psychology, behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field.

• Two years of research experience or progressively responsible employment in a field applicable to research, or a combination of such training and experience.

Professional Competencies

• Knowledge of spoken and written English sufficient to obtain, provide, or exchange information. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• The applicant must have a highly efficient and organized approach to work with strong attention to detail and thoroughness. Applicant needs to manage multiple tasks and possess exceptional time management skills.

• Strong working knowledge of personal computers with formal training and/or employment experience is preferred. Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and using the internet.

Preferred Qualifications

• Spanish language proficiency.

• Proficiency with Redcap
