Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries is a leading full-service semiconductor foundry with a global manufacturing footprint spanning three continents. GlobalFoundries\' Product Line Research and Development Organization is looking for a Power GaN Technology Development Program Technical Leader (Tech Lead).

The Tech Lead will be responsible for coordinating all technology development activities needed to execute the development of a competitive, differentiated, high value new technology offering for one or more customers. The time span of this activity can extend from the initiation of technology development through the successful qualification and yield ramp of a customer product. This activity will include developing a plan for executing technology development, leading a team of device and process integration engineers to execute this plan, and coordinating with all necessary groups to execute the goals of the technology development program.

The goal of the tech lead is to accomplish a technology development that meets the performance, cost, manufacturability, yield, reliability, and quality goals. The technology should be the foundation of a valuable, differentiated, and competitive customer solution. They can be expected to have the support and cooperation of product management, design enablement, quality, reliability, fab operations, and engineering teams.

Successful applicants will become a member of a broader center of excellence in technology development and part of a global development infrastructure driving innovation across dozens of technology platforms. Engineers with a Masters or Ph. D. degree and over 10 years of industry R&D experience in semiconductor technology are strongly preferred.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) creating and maintaining a technology development project plan, directing the members of the technology development team the in execution of the plan, and coordinating interaction between GF organizations to enable the technology development team\'s execution,

2) discovering problems, gaps, or risks in the technology status or development plan and working across organizations as needed to address.

3) ensuring that the extended team has a clear and straightforward view of the technology development status, risks, and key next steps

4) working directly with the customer as needed to ensure that the team is on a path to exceeding the customer\'s expectations.

Other Responsibilities:

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in electrical engineering, chemical, materials science, or other relevant engineering or physical science discipline.

  • 10+ Years of Experience in GaN / Wide Bandgap Semiconductor processing and process development.
