LifePath, Inc Kitchen Assistant - 15 hrs per week in Erving, Massachusetts

Join our caring team at our Meals on Wheels Kitchen in Erving. LifePath is a mission-driven, collaborative and community-focused human services agency seeking a part time Kitchen Assistant. The Kitchen Assistant supports the responsibilities of Kitchen Managers, Assistant Managers and/or the Nutrition Program Supervisor with the tasks of facility prep and clean-up, kitchen tasks in preparation of home delivered meals, and as back-up driver for home delivered meals as needed. \$15.45/hour, part time, 9am - 12pm, Monday through Friday, 15 hours per week QUALIFICATIONS: Attentive to detail; have ability to count; have ability to understand and complete specific task list assignments; have basic knowledge of good sanitation practices. Must have pleasant personality and ability to interact well with others; have experience working with elders; must be dependable and understand the need for client confidentiality. Must have drivers license and insured, reliable vehicle. Must be available to work within the scheduled hours of operation. RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Heat and pack portions for Home Delivered Meals Check temperatures and count portions received from the Caterer Insure portion control Pack cold parts containers for Home Delivered Meals Deliver meals as requested Oversee sanitation Clean kitchen Wash all pans and utensils Mop out Driver containers Remove trash Requisition kitchen supplies from manager PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT FOR THE KITCHEN ASSISTANT: Physical: Visual, auditory and mobile capacity necessary. Capacity to communicate verbally with co-workers, supervisors, & consumers. Capacity to hear and speak on the telephone. Capacity to drive a vehicle. Capacity to drive in all weather conditions to deliver meals to clients in their homes. Capacity to navigate uneven terrain in all weather conditions to deliver meals to clients in their homes. Capacity to climb stairs. Ability to stand for duration of shift. Occasional reaching and grabbing objects with both hands, twisting of hand and wrist, and pushing and pulling of objects. Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting to perform work functions. Capacity to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Mental: Ability to read and understand written program instructions. Ability to accurately count. Ability to navigate independently to locate any address within the HDM Program service area. Capacity to deal rationally and calmly with varying personalities. Capacity to work well in fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Environmental: Time is split between indoor kitchen work and traveling outdoors to deliver meals to clients in their homes. Must be able to tolerate odors and pollutants including but not limited to smoke, air fresheners, pet dander, personal odors, etc. from a variety of in-home conditions. Must be able to tolerate heat and cold of seasonal changes and indoor temperatures.
