Our space systems team is looking for a mission systems engineer with expertise in orbit analysis and mission design. This team member will support multiple programs and be responsible for developing constellation models in Satellite Toolkit (STK), defining and refining design reference missions and performing mission analysis to inform segment and subsystem requirements and architecture. This position is located on-site in Englewood, CO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support development and capture of system architectures and definition of design reference missions to solve complex mission objectives.

  • Develop space system and constellation models using STK and AFSIM.

  • Contribute to model-based engineering initiatives through integration of orbital modeling tools with SysML model.

  • Work closely with the systems engineering shape, CONOPS development, Mission Architecture definition, and mission requirements derivation activities.

  • Perform mission analysis and conduct trade studies to inform segment and subsystem requirements and architecture.

  • Supports the full Lifecyle of space system design, integration, test and operations.

  • Contribute to the development of conceptual system designs for new business opportunities.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Must have prior experience in space domain and satellite segment design.

  • Must have Level 1 STK certification, Level 2 STK certification highly desired.

  • TS security clearance is required; must be willing and able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

  • Familiarity with the following tools is desired: Cameo, Magic Draw, DOORS, STK, AFSIM, Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence).

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.

  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.

  • Occasional travel may be required to customer sites or other GA-EMS locations.
