Job Description

MAIN FUNCTION:

Responsible for assisting in the preparation and analysis of financial data. Account analysis, financial report, studies are performed both on a routine and special needs basis. Reports to the Vice President/Revenue Cycle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains receivable records for physicians, retirees, students and COBRA health insurance participants, including the preparation of bills, receipt of payments, deposits as well as acting as the participants representative with regard to questions. **

  2. Under the direction of the Vice President coordinates the transfer of funds and accurate recording of claims paid and expenses related to health insurance, workers compensation and disability programs.

  3. Prepares institutional, special program and miscellaneous billings for special services and communicates billing and receipt information to the Accountant maintaining the “Other Accounts Receivable” records. In conjunction with the Accountant, informs the Vice President of special problems or delinquencies.

  4. Assists in special projects and typing for the various Finance Division Directors and Managers.

  5. Assists in various aspects of the year-end financial audit as well as other audits.

  6. Performs secretarial duties for the Vice President and Accounting & Reimbursement department. Tasks include answering the phone, maintaining files, arranging meetings, ordering supplies, etc. Schedules appointments for individual(s) assigned, arranging reservations and travel expenses.

  7. Maintains Schedule of Benefit Time for department employees.

  8. Maintains a petty cash fund.

  9. Assists in the preparation of the Institutional Cost Report by maintaining certain statistics and entering data into the ICR software.

  10. Monitors payments received for patient accounts with NYS surcharge for accuracy.

  11. Audits all Medicare & Medicaid Physical Therapy bills for the proper charging and documentation before billing.

  12. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by the position.

  13. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot health.

EDUCATION:

High School graduate; graduate of business program in a community college or business school required.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires two to three years of secretarial or administrative assistant experience with exposure to accounting tasks. Experience directly related to accounting and computers desirable. General working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet (EXCEL) software is a must.

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:

No CPR required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light physical effort. Typical office jobs. Work in comfortable positions.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

Category III. Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
