Duties:
- - Assess patients' health by performing comprehensive physical exams.
- Take medical histories to understand patients' conditions and concerns.

- Identify and diagnose acute and chronic health conditions.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, X-rays, and EKGs.

- Create individualized treatment plans based on diagnoses.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, and interventions as needed.

- Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, depending on their state's scope of practice.
- Monitor patients for medication effectiveness and side effects.

- Provide ongoing care for patients with chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.
- Educate patients about managing their conditions and preventing complications.

- Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide counseling on topics like nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, and mental health.

- Offer routine screenings (e.g., cancer screenings, blood pressure checks, vaccinations).
- Advise on wellness strategies such as healthy eating and exercise.

- Work with other healthcare providers (doctors, specialists, nurses) to ensure comprehensive care.
- Coordinate care for patients, particularly those with complex needs.
- Depending on their specialty, NPs may perform minor medical procedures like suturing wounds, removing skin lesions, or administering injections.

- Treat patients who come in with acute illnesses like infections, sprains, or minor injuries.
- Make decisions on when to refer patients to specialists or emergency care.

- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting all assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
- Ensure all documentation complies with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.

- Some NPs specialize in mental health, diagnosing and treating mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
- Provide counseling, therapy, and prescribe psychiatric medications as necessary.

- Guide patients through the healthcare system and assist with referrals to specialists.
