Position Description:

The Senior IT Support Technician has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas. This position's scope of responsibility includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of hardware and some software support and maintenance. The Senior IT Support Technician will also specialize in hardware and software that support institutional strategic initiatives, and manage area or unit IT projects that impact multiple departments or units.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the daily activities of Service Desk support by participating on the phone support and ticket rotation, as assigned. Manage service desk activities by assisting with the monitoring and assigning of incoming tickets. Serves as a liaison between PC support and other IT related areas when solving issues and/or working on new projects. Answer helpdesk calls. Serve as the first point of contact for customers in main campus and satellite clinics seeking technical assistant over the phone, in-person, or ticketing system

  • Responsible for the maintenance and support of the Tanium application and version upgrades. Responsible for the deployment of software, creation of scripts patch testing, patch campus scheduling and maintaining of pc images in KACE 2000 appliance

  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and/or application issues. Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors. Coordinate with internal and external agencies to isolate problems, make repairs and restore service to systems

  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time, consistent with established verbal and written policies, procedures, and schedules. Manage special projects as assigned to include; transfer of equipment, computer imagining, surplus process student orientations, refresh, provide software / hardware quotes etc.

  • Extensive experience supporting Windows and Mac operating systems. Troubleshoot hardware and software malfunctions

  • Perform work in the repair, maintenance, and installation of a variety of equipment and peripherals

  • Analyze root causes and resolve issues. Able to provide IT Desktop Support to end-users throughout the institution

  • Prepare systems for deployment. Deploy and maintain system patches and images

  • Collaborate with teammates to identify process improvements

  • Create, change and maintain documentation. Develop automation workflows and integrations

  • Lead IT projects and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Assist team members with technical issues

  • Provide training to staff on various technical subjects.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Maintain inventories of hardware and software

  • Provide support to C-Suite and executive teams. Provide after-hours and weekend support

  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures, and processes

  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork)

  • Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution

  • Participate on-call rotation

  • Other duties as assigned

Pay Statement:
