Position Description:
As part of an ambulatory care team, provide patient care and administrative clinical support while ensuring efficient and effective operational flow. Partner with physicians and licensed providers for the delivery of healthcare services.

Major/Essential Functions:
Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy at all times
Verify and ensure patient data is accurately documented within electronic systems, and distributed via manual processes
Schedule follow-up care (i.e., appointments, referrals, testing) as requested
Initiate prior authorizations/pre-certifications as appropriate. Counsel patients on process requirements
May perform clinical support duties including but not limited to: phone triage, filing, front-desk reception, data entry, and/or patient registration as requested
May be required and/or assigned to temporarily provide cross-coverage to other clinical departments to assist with staffing needs and ensure safe clinical operations
Research, organize and provide referral information related to the CPAN program participants in accordance with the findings of the staff and treatment team. Provide accurate information on referrals for staff, program participants, and guardians. Provide community and regional resource assistance information, community programs for insured and participants
Answers phones. Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence and tracks status of all correspondence. Draft, proof, edit correspondence, independently for understandability, grammar, punctuation and spelling, replies to correspondence as assigned. Correspondence is handled appropriately and efficiently. Uses rules of professional writing in proof work. Uses proper grammar and punctuation when composing correspondence on behalf of the department, staff and project
Coordinates, prioritizes, and schedules routine and emergency appointments in person and virtual. Staff of the CPAN Project are made aware of appointments, in person or virtual in a timely and efficient manner. Scheduling virtual visits via EMR
Coordinates and maintains filing / record keeping systems. Files and or records are easily accessed and in organized for easy retrieval of information
Other duties as requested by the Program Director and Staff with Operations that will support the departmental staff and departmental daily operations. (as assigned)
Assist the director with administrative duties with efficiency and timelines
Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes
Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork)
Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 6 months experience working as a CMA
Familiarity with Joint Commission accreditation and standards desired
Experience working in an academic medical/health sciences center desired

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED Equivalent
Must be a graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES Medical Assisting Program
Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary setting; excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Current Medical Assistant Certification required
