Job Purpose:

Manages security activities and staff on Graveyard shift.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)

  • Maintains efficiency of security operations by assigning duties to supervisory staff, reviewing and monitoring staff schedules for adequate coverage, ensuring security services meet established department standards, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, recommending policy or procedure modifications as needed, conducting department informational meetings, resolving non-routine or difficult situations, reviewing department paperwork for accuracy, and ensuring required licenses and certificates are up to date.

  • Develops Security Department policies and procedures and administrative and general orders by observing security work practices, activities and duties, writing applicable procedures, consulting with Gaming Commission and Casino Compliance Administrator for industry and regulatory compliance, modifying drafts, and submitting to VP of Security/Entertainment for final approval.

  • Ensures flow of information to outside agencies in the absence of the VP of Security/Entertainment and Security Director by acting as a liaison between department and agencies, providing reports and information as needed, protecting chain of evidence in criminal cases, maintaining report databases, and reviewing, editing, and distributing departmental reports.

  • Develops Team Members by monitoring team member performance, training team members, conducting performance appraisals, and providing counseling, guidance, and corrective action as needed.

  • Hires qualified Team Members by communicating staffing needs and advertising requirements to Human Resources, and interviewing and hiring best qualified applicants.

    Job Specifications:

    Education and Experience:

    Essential:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • 5 years of experience in casino security operations

  • 5 years of security supervisory experience

    Desirable:

  • Law enforcement experience

  • Experience in tribal gaming facility

  • POST certification

    Skills and Knowledge:

    Essential:

  • Working knowledge of security rules, regulations, and procedures

  • Ability to evaluate crisis situations and make sound judgments

  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure

  • Ability to communicate in the English language

  • Ability to compose written documents in the English language

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions

  • Ability to wear a radio earpiece and understand radio transmissions

  • Ability to read and comprehend complex written material

  • Ability to complete forms and documents and written reports

  • Ability to provide verbal and written directions

  • Ability to accept constructive criticism

  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to staff

  • Ability to work in a smoking environment

  • Ability to walk and stand for up to eight hours at a time

  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel

  • Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills

    Indirect: Security Officer, EMT's, Security Dispatcher
